Kenneth Kuntz

From the Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force (Savanah GA): Kenneth Kuntz and his crew transitioned through Savanah GA prior to leaving for Rattlesden Airfield. His first combat mission was January 8, 1945. The log book indicates six successful combat missions flown. On February 9, 1945, on a mission over Weimar Germany, his plane 44-6581 was shot down by one of the Messerschmitt 262 jets. Ken and 2 other crew members were lost.

From Karin Boumeester: They were shot down on their 5th mission near Lochmule, Germany. My dad Harold Erickson (waist gunner), the co-pilot: William Dempsey, tail gunner: Anthony Hoch, Radio operator: Louis Achuff, ball turret gunner: Canuto Garcia, and top turret gunner: Harold Lucas parachuted out and were captured and put in a POW camp. Dad was liberated from Moosburg by General Patton. The pilot, Navigator and waist gunner were killed. Kenneth Kuntz, Charles Smith and Elbert Lohr, respectively. Dad passed in October 2023. He lived a good life and was a great man.
