The crew’s Bombardier Lewellyn “Lew” Willis Hughes was Killed in Action (KIA) on his 28th mission, 24 December 1944 to Babenhausen. His first mission was on 22 September 1944 to Kassel. Hughes was promoted posthumously to 1st Lt.
