2024: Visit to Rattlesden

Craig Brandenburg: My counterpart and I were the fortunate recipients of Mr. Chris French’s VAST knowledge and deep appreciation for all things Rattlesden! To say the tour was amazing with him at the helm doesn’t do it justice.

He could recount where each tail no. parked and the seriousness of some incidents, where they happened and how widespread the damage extended when a bird jumped chocks during an engine run, and hit a refueling truck. In the end seven planes were written off!

Chris French, Thank You for sharing your passion for the 447ths history and modelling skills to bring it to life. 447th Bomb Group Association, to say I am proud member of the Alumni, albeit in the 2015/2016 reactivation of the unit, is an understatement!

What a great day at Rattlesden! Chris, Thank you for sharing so much with us!
