1943 message to servicemen from Gen. Pershing
Via son Mike Green: There’s a bit of a story behind the Laundry Charges… When he was being discharged, my father purposedly sent his uniform to the base laundry to be cleaned and pressed one last time. Knowing he was done, he purposely left without paying, thinking he beat the US out of the laundry charges. They outsmarted him, by holding up his discharge papers until he paid the 25 cents…
